This is Darren, Janeen's brother. I decided to write a quick note to my sister. Although a lot is going on, you are in my thoughts every day especially during this trying time. This weekend Mom helped me with Cityfest repsresenting ZIOS and our new products for the restaurant. We had a great time and thought of you all day. We knew Jack would have a great time with the fun zone and water slides there. There was lots of things for kids to do. Lots of food too. Jack wouuld have been in heaven. You two were missed. Next year, the whole family will do Cityfest in San Diego. But back to you, things will turn out fine and we are all supportive of you. The Romance of Hats
"Does anyone still wear a hat?" Janeen does, she buys them, she has them created for her, and she can wear them like no other.
I think for Janeen, hats have always been a way to change her personality in an instant. If she and her mother want to be a princess, a countess, a queen for a day, a hat always provide them with exactly the right prop to begin their imaginings.
Hats for me, (as a designer of one-of-a-kind handmade hats), has inspired me to transport the wearer to other times and places.
A hat is, after all, a crown that can make any little girl or woman, as she places one on her head feel set apart, queenly.
Suzi's hats like all fashions are a means of self expression and are far more than a simple covering for the bad hair day, shelter from the sun & wind, something to get us through an occasion. Few have been able to resist the temptation to try on a hat (Designed by Suzi) perched in shops & department stores throughout the states.
All of her, one of a kind, hats are bold, they amuse, they impose, they challenge, they mimic, they intrigue, they recapture some spirit of the past, predict some wave of the future. They are works of art.
I've always enjoyed making my gifts for ones that I love and never dreamed it would be so much fun making hats with family members and friends. Never knew why my love for hat making came about. I never took a millinery lesson, but my dear friend Rae, and I would sit in my kitchen and practice with old antique lace and ribbons, fruits and vegetables until we made hats that felt like they've been on our heads forever! I became obsessed with Antique hunting, buying very "old" hats from straws to felts studying them from top to bottom. Convincing myself I can do that, and I did. The time was right and my business took off. I wore one of my hats one day into Neiman Marcus, and I was found. Oh my God, can I make hundreds of hats, (no two alike), and meet all my orders. Hats look much better on a head than on a hat rack and it was then when I asked Janeen to be my model. With Janeen inspired by her confidence and her beauty never asked how to wear her hair or what style of hat looked best. Every one of a kind style of hat she put on, she just made it look like it was waiting to make its triumphant return. Thank you Janeen, for all your modeling help over the years and letting me get back to my buying hat bodies, vintage flowers, feathers, veils, jewels, fur, ribbons, bows and beads. Letting me play and seek out my reasoning for self possessions.
If as the saying goes clothes make a man, it might also be said that hats make the woman. Around the world hats have provided a quicker way than clothes to identify a woman, as chic, daring, up-to-date, old fashion, romantic. They have revealed the wearers attitude, if only by building it. For Janeen hats have also spelled out who this woman is and has become.
For Kate the hat has spelled out her importance and her place in society. In simplest terms, this has often meant that the more extravagant, impractical, or uncomfortable the hat the higher the woman's rank.
Janeen, from sunup to sundown you have always ranked the highest in my eyes when it comes to fashion and accessorizing. No one can do it better, and your passion for all treasures and beautiful gifts shine along with your deep appreciation and acceptance to help others. You've been there for soooo many, and have been blessed with little Jack. God's walking with you, just keep holding his hand. Don't let go!

I swear i thought that was me in the first picture! Maybe its the head band but i swear you look like me or i look like you - whatever - in that picture.
I love hats =) Dean not so crazy about when i wear them but he is at that teenager stage where my mere existence embarrasses him.
This is true. I think Mo has been telling you for years to write a hair book. Perhaps after your recovery - a fashion/hair/accessories book??
